The Knockoff That Took So Long It's Already Out of Style

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Usually Steve Madden is pretty fast to whip up a knockoff of any popular shoe but the time it took for them to make this one it's just ridiculous. If you're going to take 8 months to make a knockoff, can't you do a little better than this? In this case, it really is so last season.

The Mom With Everything

Thursday, May 8, 2008

My solution for the mom who has everything? Fresh, chic flowers! All of these arrangements can be bought from the website TeleFlora which is by far my favorite flowers site. Everything is modern and not cheesy looking.

Top Row: Lovely Orchids $49.95, Floral Fantasia $149.95, Watercolor Wonder $59.95

Middle Row: Love's Sweet Dream $49.95, Rising Sun $69.95, Enchanted Roses $99.95

Bottom Row: Pink Lemonade Roses $ 41.95, Red Gerbera Collection $131.9, Moonlight Sonata $49.95

For my mom, I'm torn between the Red Gerberas (her favorite flower) and the Enchanted Roses. I know she'd love either one!

The Mom to Everyone

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

You know her. She's the mom to everybody, making everything better for everyone else and seldom taking time for herself. Why not give her something special that makes her feel the appreciation she deserves?

If you need a spa treatment, Bliss is the place to go! With the Super-Spaah Kit, how can you go wrong?

Jersey is a great fabric because it doesn't wrinkle and it's so soft. I'm a huge fan of Design History's cerise dress. The color reminds me of fruit punch!

Magazine subscriptions make great gifts, in my experience. Real Simple is one of my favorites because it deals with everything. A mom who is always doing things for others could use an escape from it all each month and this is a very affordable way to do it!

Anytime she reaches for the keys, she'll be grabbing a little piece of luxury. With it's signature blue center this Tiffany key ring is a great way to add a bit of glam to otherwise boring keys.

West Elm has this great Art Glass vase set that would look gorgeous with some fresh picked flowers.

Gump's Persimmon Throw is a sure way to wrap your mom up in luxury.

I've smelled these Monogram Candles from Anthroplogie and they are heaven! Each scent corresponds with the letter on the box (A for Azalea, B for Bougainvillea). Mine is Lemongrass and so yummy!

I have a soft spot for jammies because they are so comfy! The Arable tank and Underripe cropped pants are so cute and sure to put a smile on her face!

As a lover of flats, I think these Ruffled Flats from Gap are so cute!

Everybody's moms tend to not spend time on themselves. With The CARGO Collection kit, she has no longer has an excuse to spend 10 minutes doing her makeup!

The Geeky Mom

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

If you read GeekSugar, you know that geek is chic! If your mom is tech savvy then I have some sweet presents for her!

I think anyone with a laptop would be happy to carry it in this coated-canvas bag from J. Crew. I know I would! It's happy and cheerful much better than mom's boring black!

How hot is the plum color of this Nikon CoolPix S550 camera? Talk about a great accessory!

I love the simple style of these Nuclear Earrings but if I wasn't aware that they are molecules, I'd never guess!

Because annoying pimples come at almost every age, get your mom the Zeno. It zaps those suckers and also comes in pink.

Many of people who are on the computer a lot need reading glasses (like myself) so I found this adorable yellow floral glasses case. It has a kisslock clasp for a little vintage flair!

This Kodak camera case is so cute with it's little charms and it's great price of $25!

Ballet flats have nothing to do with a tech savvy mom except for the fact that they are comfortable and everybody loves comfort! Missoni is responsible for these punchy blue flats!

Hello, blu-ray ready face! Cargo has the makeup to perfect your face so HD is no problem! Unfortunately, the makeup is no longer sold as a set and you have to buy each piece separately.

This USB hub man is so cute! A little man with all of his limbs waiting to be plugged in and put to work!

The Sophisticated Mom

I'm pretty sure my grandma fits into this category, but can you really put a person into one category? The sophisticate mom always has fresh flowers on display, must have a little lipstick on, and never leaves the house without a pair of gorgeous earrings.

Can you believe these gorgeous earrings from Chico's are only $20? Well, they are and they're screaming your mom's name!

Do I really need to tell you why this is a great gift? Chanel No. 5 starting at $95.

Being from New Mexico, I love Nambe. It's classic yet modern with it's clean lines and polished look. This pair of flare candlesticks would look beautiful on Mama's dining room table.

This Pink Sinner lipstick by Lipstick Queen should be a staple among sophisticate moms.

You mom will wow people whether she's throwing a party or running errands in this amazing Tibi orchid dress.

Your mom can hide all of her treasures in this Jewelry Box that comes in 7 other colors.

If you can afford $770 for a pair of patent Louboutin's, I can guarantee your mom will never forget it! In fact, I bet she'll be telling everybody what great taste you have!

American Style is just out and the Warhol cover alone makes me want it on my coffee table. I think mother would agree!

What do YSL, lipgloss, and a pretty charm have in common? Being rolled into one and given to you mom!

The New Mom

Monday, May 5, 2008

Whether she's your best friend, co-worker, or sister-in-law, chances are you know a new mom. If you are a new mom youself, maybe you'll find something to hint about!

All moms know that beauty is hard when you're chasing after little ones. Thankfully the people at 3CC have thought of that and made a Mom on the Go kit! It comes in warm and cool but at $98 it's a bit high but 3CC isn't exactly known for it's cheap products.

Do diaper bags come any chicer than this? Storksak's "Emily" can be your friend's (or yours) for $168!

Lucky you! Maxi dresses are easy and right on trend! This one from Diane von Furstenberg is colorful, forgiving, and has breast access for feedings. Now all you need is some gladiators!

Yes, that is a Dior baby bottle. But what baby of a fashionable mama wouldn't want it?! Ok, it's more about the mama not the baby. At $40 (yikes!) it comes in silver, blue, or pink.

What mom (or anyone really) wouldn't love a heart lock bracelet from Tiffany? This one has "Mom" written on it and is so fab she could wear it with jeans or a ballgown!

I don't think I could actually use these Bvlgari Soaps because they are too cute! This is probably as useful as Johnson's baby wash but again, it's more of a mama luxury thing!

What more could a new mom want than a little breakfast in bed? Thanks to Philosophy you can have that and a hot bath too!

Because it's pretty much the coolest thing ever, a pink wagon. I know you're jealous and wish you had one for yourself. I know I do!

The Eco-Friendly Mom

I have to admit, I'm not the most eco-friendly person but this isn't about me. It's about your mom! If she's all about reusable bags at the grocery store and reclaimed hardwood floors, then I have some perfect gifts that will make her full of love for you and the earth!

This adorable Max Studio dress for $98 is made from bamboo broadcloth so it's eco-chic and light and airy!

Now this is a hot bag! TheStella McCartney for LeSportsac Everyday Tote, is made of nylon and synthetic leather. It's a bit steep at $350 but I'm sure she'd be drooling all over it!

If your mom loves to keep her face looking fresh with a little dab of color, the Korres Color Discovery Kit for $35 is a bit of everything she's looking for.

Need a little sparkle on her wrist? Then this Alex and Ani bangle set maybe what you're looking for! The bracelets are made from recycled metals, shells, and glass beads and can be bought for $77.

I love this bamboo salad bowl from GLOBO. It comes in a variety of colors and is just so... punchy! With this bowl, your mom's table is sure to feel a little more like summer.

Lining the inside of your drawers gives a refreshing hint of color. Most drawer liners are made of paper but these Floral Liners are made from recycled cotton remnants so I guess it's like lining your drawers with money?

Speaking of paper, these Confetti Vases aren't made for flowers but they are made to look pretty! The paper is recycled so no worries to be had!

Unless you can afford Stella, feminine eco-friendly shoes can be hard to come by. Cri De Coeur has some super-cute low wedges for $120! Not only would they look great with a sundress, Cri De Coeur will plant a tree for every pair of shoes sold.

May Must Haves!

Friday, May 2, 2008

I'm going on a trip to LA this month (and moving there in June!) so this month, I have vacation on my mind! Here are my picks for the wonderfully warm month of May!

I love how the print on this Missoni bikini is less of their signature flame stitch and more of a wave look.

C.O. Bigelow makes some deliciously fresh lemon body lotion that sure to keep your skin nice and soft.

These Pink Quartz Earrings from Banana Republic are so bright and gorgeous! They would look fab with a little white dress.

I've been needing a little tribal style in my closet and this Matthew Williamson beaded dress is just what I'm looking for! It's bright, funky, and would look so cute with those gold gladiators

Since I'm petite, I don't want a gladiator sandal that climbs up my leg. These gold Helena Gladiators are perfect!

Mark had the brilliant idea to put skincare on the go via their hook-ups. For $8 you can buy either an Anti-Acne Blemish Treatment Gel, Pore Minimizing Lotion, Depuff Eye Gel, of the Lip Smoother. When you buy two, you get the hook-up connector for free that gives you skincare in the smallest of places!
